Dr. rhine kirkland- Principal

Dr. Rhine Kirkland brings years of experience in public education and a deep commitment to student success, meaningful relationships, collaborative leadership, and high-quality instruction. She currently serves as Principal of Saluda Trail Middle School where she is dedicated to building upon the school's tradition of excellence while ensuring every student and staff member feels valued, supported, and challenged to grow.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kirkland has served as a middle and high school English teacher, testing coordinator, program coordinator, and assistant principal of instruction. Her leadership experience has been marked by a focus on continuous improvement, data-informed decision making, and creating systems that empower both students and educators to thrive.

Dr. Kirkland holds three degrees from Winthrop University: a Bachelor of Arts in English with Teacher Certification, a Master of Education in Middle Level Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. She earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Practice and Innovation from the University of South Carolina.

Outside of school, Dr. Kirkland enjoys traveling, the arts, sports, and spending time with family and friends. She believes that excellence is cultivated through intentional habits, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to continuous growth.
